Krista Allen made her debut on "Days of Our
Lives" in August 1996 as the sweet and endearing Billie Reed. Because "Days"
has been a viewing staple in the Allen household since the show made its
debut nearly 32 years ago, Allen felt familiar with her surroundings on
the set from day one. She also felt immediately comfortable with her character
because, says Allen, "she seems so normal, and she really is a lot like
me."
Originally from Ventura, California, Allen spent years in Texas before settling in Los Angeles. Although she set her sights on acting at an early age (she even made imaginary Oscar and Emmy acceptance speeches), she had to overcome shyness and a fear of performing in front of people. In her later years she majored in education at the University of Texas and then interned as a kindergarten teacher before she decided to pursue her dream of an acting career.
After serving as a national spokesmodel for Budweiser and Montgomery Ward, and appearing on numerous billboards and posters, Allen embarked on a television career without any formal training. Recalling those early days in front of television cameras, she says: "The red light went on and I froze. I was like a deer in the headlights." She regained her confidence quickly, however, and soon landed the role of Shelly on "The Bold and the Beautiful." In addition, she made guest appearances on many episodic series, including "Silk Stalkings" and "Married...with Children." Just days before she took on the role of Billie Reed on "Days," she completed the feature film "Liar, Liar" with Jim Carrey.
In her spare time, Allen enjoys gardening, cooking and painting. She loves children and animals and is active in charities on their behalves. She has a five-year-old dog, Jaymi, whom she rescued as a puppy from a garbage dumpster.
Allen’s birthday is April 5.
