Tanya Boyd joined the cast of "Days of Our
Lives" as the mysterious and spiritual Celeste in April 1994.
A native of Detroit, Boyd moved to New York at the age of 15 to study dramatic art at the Lee Strasberg Institute. She later moved to Los Angeles, where she was cast in several television, film and stage roles.
Boyd guest-starred on such prime-time programs as "A Different World," "Parker Lewis Can’t Lose" and "Tricks of the Trade." She was featured in the films "New York, New York"; "Up the Academy"; and "Jo Jo Dancer, Your Life Is Calling." Her stage credits include "No Place to Be Somebody," "Cotton," "Jelly’s Last Jam" and "Indigo Blues," for which she won a Dramalogue Critics Award for Best Performance.
Boyd wears many hats in the entertainment industry. She has performed as a vocalist on tour with Natalie Cole, Anita Baker and Lou Rawls, and she is on the staff of the Mojo Theatre Ensemble in Los Angeles as a director and producer.
Her birthday is March 20.
